Blake Iwanow has won a thrilling round three JSRA Metropolitan Series Feature Race at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night, claiming his seventh Feature win of the season.
After four qualifying heats, Iwanow and Bryden Southwell started on the front row for the twelve lap main event.
Iwanow led from the outset, with an early stoppage for Kurtis Blackburn who had moved to second. On the resultant restart, Izak Davies immediately made his presence felt, coming from position five to take the lead on lap five, with Iwanow immediately fighting back at the half way mark.
The duo opened a lead on the remainder of the capacity field, with Darryl George moving to third ahead of Southwell.
Iwanow started to get the upper hand in the concluding stages while a great battle had developed for the minor placings, before one of the back markers spun in turn three with less than two laps remaining.
The resultant green, white, chequered flag finish, turned the race into a thrilling finish, with Darryl George and Izak Davies immediately applying pressure to Iwanow, with Davies and Iwanow swapping the lead on the last lap. After losing the lead Iwanow fought back on the last corner to win by a car length, with George, Southwell and Blake Webb rounding out the top five.
