The Travelling armada that is the VMPA series will reopen the checking for their season 2021/22 this Saturday night at Moama’s Heartland Raceway in NSW.
After the 2020/21 season was backburned, motors are in full revolution for the return to action.
With all the heavy hitters returning to the VMPA ranks, this is fast shaping up to be even hotter than the 2019/20 scorcher to the line.
Reigning champion and Australian Champion Kye Walters will crown the list, with Brock Atkins who led most of the season before a late mechanical gremlin would rob the Atkins Family driver of the season points haul.
Could this year go the way of the Portland #0? With a whole list of newcomers this season in the ranks to kick things off, an upset is always on the cards with some of the rookies looking to really shake it up to the big guns of the category.
Wade McCarthy will look to go one step further on his previous effort going runner up to David Smith in the last VMPA round at Heartland.
A staggering 26 cars will be in the fleet for the weekend featuring an all new racing format to debut.
All drivers will field 2 heats which will determine a start in either pair of odds and even dashes or the top 8 pole shuffle.
With the winner of the shuffle claiming $100 cash and the the pole starting position for the main event courtesy of True Design Homes.
Season points will be only scored from the heat races and main event on the night with round 3 of racing featuring the pole shuffle and dashes not counting toward season points.
Putting a new twist on an old recipe, this racing format is set to be an exciting change and leave drivers with tactical cards to play late in the race night.
Action is set to fire up from 6pm with gates open by 3pm this Saturday at Heartland Raceway Moama.
In what will also be a major pre scheduling for the National Modified Sedan Title at Heartland in 2022.Reminder that entrants into Heartland Raceway must be double vaccinated and check in with the Service NSW app.
