Ellenbrook Speedway has yet again seen another epic Ground Masters Brian Rose Memorial, which saw three attempts to reach an ending.
In the end, Derby’s Jake Hoath picked up the pieces to win his first RDA100.
In a race that doubled as the start of the ODH Mechanical Tri-City Series, Hoath downed Hayden and Ben Norman.
Damon Lyall and Jamie Oldfield were the two drivers who brought us to the green, but Lyall’s race would only last four laps until a flat right sidelined his best run at Ellenbrook to date.
This left Oldfield as the solo man in command and dominated the opening half of the event.
Another yellow would fall for Michael Clark, who deserves a special mention for his performance over the weekend. He got as high as third place until he slowed to bring the second yellow of the feature.
Hoath finally started to move forward after this yellow, getting past Dellar for second place, but they were no match for Oldfield until his race for a dozen Brian Roses would end as he suffered a flat right rear tyre with still six laps to go.
This is where everything started to turn onto his head.
Hoath was now being chased by Dellar, who was looking to get his first Major Street Stock win to his name and closed in from a two-second gap to have one last dive going into turn three, but that was halted when Jack Favero slowed on the back straight.
We were facing a green-white-checkered finish, and Dellar and Blake Iwanow were left to try to fight Hoath for victory.
Hoath was able to clear comfortably, but at the same time as Dellar was giving the lung for the lead, the yellows had come out for a three-car pile-up on turn two. Dellar tried his best to slow it down but collected the left side of Hoath and was out with a blown rack.
During the yellows, Blake Iwanow also had expired and was out of the race.
Now, the Normans, Hayden and Ben, along with last year’s champ Cody Avins, who had, at one stage, fallen out of the top 10, were left to battle Hoath.
However, All three were no match for Hoath, who has added to his Month of Madness Round Win, State Title, and Brett Johnson Memorial victories.
The next round of the ODH Mechanical Tri-City Series will be at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway on November 29 and 30, with the Street Stock Coal Miner.
