HOATH GOES BACK-TO-BACK IN NON-STOP BRIAN ROSE

Ellenbrook Speedway had everything thrown at it over the last two days, but the cream rose to the top as Jake Hoath went back-to-back, winning the 40th Anniversary of the Brian Rose Memorial.

Despite rain falling just before the cars came out on track for the main event, and drivers had to hot lap the track to be in racing conditions, Hoath became the first driver since Jamie Oldfield to win two in a row in the RDA 100, defeating Matt Iwanow and Kayne Dellar.

Ben Norman would join Hoath on the front row as the race was set at a cracking pace straight from the get-go, but quickly they were swamped by Cody Avins and Matt Iwanow as the three traded blows out front.

Iwanow would hit the lead as he and Hoath traded lines, and the lead as Avins would get by Norman after he jumped the high line in turn four, going as far back as fifth place.

The first of the major retirees would be Jamie Oldfield as his quest for 12 RDA 100’s will have to wait another year as he went infield with a flat right rear tyre.

Avins would join him and last year’s Westralia Cup holder Hayden Norman after both made contact on the front straight.

Iwanow would not leave Hoath alone as the pair continue to work their way through lapped competitors.

The race almost came to its one and only stoppage with two laps to go as Brooke Oldfield slowed on turn two just ahead of the leaders, giving Iwanow one more shot to take out the biggest Street Stock event in WA.

But it was meant to be, as Hoath would win his second Brian Rose Memorial and with that, take out the opening round of the ODH Mechanical Tri-City Series and the Westralia Cup, meaning it’s time we head to Derby to try take the crown off the current Western Australian Champion.

Daniel Flavel, who started out of 20, would take out the ECTM hard charger, picking up 11 spots to finish ninth.

The next round of the ODH Tri-City Series will be held at the Collie Speedway on November 21 and 22 for the Street Stock Coal Miner.
