HIGGS ON TOP AT MOUNT BARKER

by | Oct 31, 2023 | SSA Super Sedans

Press Release by WA Super Sedans.

Dustin Higgs has claimed the victory in Round Two of the Marri Park Tavern WA Super Sedan Series at the Mount Barker Speedway.

Nathan Thiele marked his return to the track with a win in the opening heat of the day. Thiele led home Dusty Higgs in second, and Ryan Huxtable crossed the line in third.

Dustin led the pack from start to finish in heat two, crossing the line ahead of Rob Knox in second, and Kemble Aylett in third.

Knox got the best of the field in the third heat of the day, to secure pole position for the main event.

Knox would be joined on the front row by Dustin, with Dusty and Huxtable set to sail from the second row.

Dustin won the start from the outside of the front row to take the lead from Knox into turn one.

Knox settled into second, and Dusty in third.

After starting from fifth Thiele had moved to fourth in the early stages, before taking third from Dusty on the third circulation of the Les Gorman Park venue.

Meanwhile out front Dustin had stretched his legs, to build almost a straight away lead at half race distance.

Thiele continued to apply the pressure to Knox, looking to take second position.

Knox was able to hold his nerve, and build a couple of car length lead over the chasing Thiele and Dusty.

A small mistake by Knox brought Thiele, and Higgs back on to his bumper, but again he would thwart the challenge to hold onto second position.

A comfortable advantage up front saw Dustin go on to claim the win in what was a dominant performance in the feature race.

Knox drove away from the chasing pack in the closing stages to cross the line second.

Thiele would claim the final step on the podium after some late race pressure from Dusty who greeted the chequers in fourth.

Huxtable came out on top of a race long battle with Aylett to round out the top five, with Aylett crossing the line sixth.

Mount Barker local Warrie Hambley crossed the line seventh, ahead of rookie Glynn Mcbeath who was the final finisher.

The Marri Park Tavern WA Super Sedan Series will return on the 11th of November with round three at Bunbury.
