Rhys Heinrich has prevailed in a classic Street Stock Top Gun at the Maxi Moves Timmis Speedway, Mildura, holding off National Champion Anthony Beare.

The race had everything, with the lead changing numerous times mid race, as the 2016 National Champion and the current Champion went toe to toe in the middle stages.

Heinrich and 1995 National Champion, Mark Jennings would start at the front of the capacity field, with Heinrich, driving for Patriot Motorsports immediately taking the lead.

The race would not be so kind for Mick Clark who retired soon after the start, after he moved to second, allowing Jennings to move to second and Beare to third, after he started from position nine.
Jennings race ended on lap fourteen, allowing Beare to move to second and then to start the classic battle with Heinrich, with saw Beare take the lead on lap twenty four, only for Heinrich to take it back a lap later. Beare fought back as the pair ran side by side, with Beare back in front on lap twenty six, only for Heinrich to take it back again.

A late stoppage closed the remainder of the field up, with Heinich and Beare continuing their great battle, while Jason DeGoldi, who had been third for a good proportion of the race, joining the battle in the concluding stages. The trio would be separated by less than a second at the conclusion of forty laps, in a great way to finish the Mildura season, who next season will host the National and State Street Stock Titles.

Behind DeGoldi, Matt Nelson would finish fourth, with a brilliant drive from Bailey Heinrich from the back of the field, rewarded with a fifth placing.
