Callum Harper has stormed to a commanding victory in the 46th running of the Grand Prix at the Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway in Latrobe Tasmania.

Night two kicked off with another two rounds of heats, with Matty Pascoe taking the win in Heat 10. Mick Nicola Snr was too strong for the field in heat 11, and Adam Beechey claimed his first heat win for the weekend in heat 12.

Matty Pascoe went two for two on night two, by claiming the win in Heat 13. This was enough to put Pascoe at the top of the points after five rounds of heats. Jamie Collins was victorious in Heat 14, and Tasmanian Cha

mpion David Nichols claimed the final heat of the weekend with a big win in Heat 15.After his rollover on night one Nathan Howells made up the most positions in the Pole Shuffle.

For pole it came down to Matty Pascoe and David Nichols with Pascoe getting the jump from the outside and went on to claim pole position.Pascoe elected to start the 50 lap main event from the outside, with Nichols on pole.

Pascoe jumped to an early lead, with Beechey in second, and Nichols close behind in third. Harper started from third, and fell to fifth early before making his move. With the top of the track being the dominant lane early in the race, Harper made the bottom work with a pass on Mick Nicola Snr after a number of laps racing side by side.

Harper’s progress to the front was lethal, moving past Nichols, Beechey and Pascoe in the space of five laps. Harper quickly gapped the pack at one point leading by a full eight seconds.Yellows marred the second half of the race, but nothing would stop Harper from taking out a dominant win.

Nichols was able to get by Beechey and Pascoe to be the best of the rest coming home in second, with Pascoe rounding out the podium in third.Robbie Bird crossed the line with an impressive fourth placed finish, Mick Nicola Snr and Mick Nicola Jnr rounded out the lead lap finishers in fifth and sixth respectively.
