Official Release Thursday 18th January 2024.
Tonight in official practice for this weekend’s 2024 Ian Boettcher Race Parts National Junior Sedan Title at the Grafton Speedway it was Queenslander Jayden Hancock who set the fastest time.
Times would be quick from the get-go, numerous drivers including River Spitzbarth, Brodie Hollyman, Jake Bradley, Brock Stubbs and Miller Throckmorton all taking a turn at the top of the tree, but time and time again Hancock would hit the track and reclaim the top spot, eventually setting the fastest mark in the twenty first practice session.
The time would also be unofficially lower than the previous fastest lap in an official SSA Junior Sedan event of 17.270 set by Jaiden Santin back in November 2022.
Thirty-one practice sessions would be held across the afternoon, sixty-eight of the seventy-one drivers officially taking part in the title taking to the track this afternoon to practice.
Fellow Queenslander Jackson Kunny would be second fastest with a 17.334 second lap (in the second to last practice session) while WA Champion Jake Leaman would record the third fastest time in the same thirtieth session.
Although it took a while to break into the seventeen second bracket, by the end the top thirty-seven drivers had broken through, while the top forty-six drivers were separated by less than a second.
Only three drivers failed to practice this afternoon: current track record holder Jayden Santin electing not to take part, Summer Giselle who arrives in town tomorrow and Marcus Moore also not making the call.
Action begins tomorrow from 4.45pm with the Grand Parade, followed by three rounds of heat racing for the Junior Sedans prior to the final round of heats and the finals scheduled for Saturday night.
