The opening night of the 2020 Shinju Matsuri Festival Race Meeting held at the Broome Speedway in Western Australia was a great spectacle of Speedway Sedan Racing.

Three high quality rounds of heat racing were witnessed by the large crowd on hand with perfect weather conditions and a super far race track leading to a high quality night of entertainment.

Twenty Seven SSA Street Stocks put on a fierce display across their six qualifying heat races with ex-pat Victorian Lenny Bates leading the point score after night one courtesy of two heat wins and a second place.

Brad Roberts, Trent Bin-Omar, Jorj Park and Damon Lyall were all prominent across the night and will be strong challengers in tonight’s main event.Heat wins in the SSA Production Sedans were shared between Jhye Kent, Jack McAuley and local Greg Mills with Jeff Steele claiming two wins in the SSA Modified Sedans.

Riley Dunne collected two heat wins in the SSA Junior Sedans as Cody Mackellar unfortunately found the wall in the final heat of the night severely damaging his Hyundai Excel.

All drivers will have one more heat race tonight ahead of their main events with racing getting underway from 5pm.
