Josh Fraser from the northern suburbs of Perth has taken victory in the Production Sedan class at the Oakley Earthworks Shark Bay Speedway yesterday during the 35th Annual Far Western Championships.

Just nine cars completed the distance in the race meeting which doubled as the opening round of the 2022 Natrad Production Sedan Four Crowns Series.

An opening lap incident between tenth starting Barry Rose and Richard Baker saw Ryan Allan become the first casualty after being caught up in the bingle.

Western Australian Champion Kyle Sayer lead the opening three laps when the race got going before retiring from the lead after a loose oil line being the cause of Sayer slowing to a stop on the racetrack bringing about another restart.

Fraser inherited the lead and controlled the race from the front ahead of 2020 National Junior Sedan Champion Mitchell Baker, Kellerberrin’s Gareth Jacobson and Collie’s Jake Avins.

Six Time Far Western Champion Barry Rose was the man on the move working his way through the field after starting from position ten.

Rose was into third on lap ten after working by the Ford Falcons of Jacobson & Avins as Fraser held a healthy gap back to Mitchell Baker.Jordan McGinnis and Fish Telenta came together at the back of the field with three laps remaining with both cars able to restart.

It would Fraser’s victory as he took the win from Baker, Rose, defending champion Rick Musarra and Gareth Jacobson the top five.

The 2022 Natrad Production Sedan Four Crowns Series continues next Saturday afternoon at the Pithara Speedway in conjunction with the Annual Kevan Joyce Memorial.
