Warren Flavel today made it two feature wins in a row at the Ellenbrook Speedway as he raced his way to the victory in the Production Sedan version of the Winter Classic.
Flavel won two heats throughout the day to start on pole, while his closest rival in Rick Musarra claimed one win and would start on his outside.
Warren got the early jump and looked like he was going to have it all his own way, but Musarra held his ground, clawed back the distance and closed the gap enough to have a go at the lead, a chance he got when Warren went slightly wide.
Musarra would lead lap seven through to thirteen, with Flavel right on his bumper. In a repeat of the previous StreetStock feature, as the white flag came out the yellows also came on, with Bruce Bell spinning in turn one.
This allowed Flavel to reassess his attack and then, as the race went green he went for it. He stayed with Musarra through turns one and two, moved alongside him down the backstraight and then made a massive move around the outside in turns three and four to have a bumper in front as they crossed the line.
Musarra didn’t let Flavel go easily, fighting back and the two making slight contact, but in the end it was Flavel who held on for the win ahead of Musarra, with Wayne Leviston within a sniff of victory in the dying stages but ultimately being forced to settle for third.
The Production Sedans will be back in action for the Christmas in July event at Ellenbrook Speedway on the 23rd of July.
