The Allwest Plant Hire Ellenbrook Speedway was back in action today after a month’s break, with the Speedway Sedans Australia classes providing some terrific action once again.
SSA Production Sedans had a field of nearly thirty cars which included some of the most highly credentialed competitors in the class in the West.2018 WA Champion Barry Rose had his first hit out in a Holden Commodore and was impressive throughout the day.
Rose battled for the lead in the early stages of the feature race with Katanning visitor Jake Blight after the opening lap saw Josh Fraser be spun in front of the field and be collected by Ricky Williams.
Fraser’s Ford Falcon was heavily damaged as a major bingle on lap seven taking out a number of cars as the days racing took his toll on man and machine.
Rose and Blight both succumbed to mechanical issues within a lap of each other handing the lead to Mitchell Killeen.
Moora’s Jayden McCuish & Rick Musarra in the RPM Race Products Holden Commodore had a tremendous tussle for the runner up position lap in the race with Musarra getting the better of it.
It would be back to back main event wins to start the 2021 season at Ellenbrook for Mitchell Killeen as he brought home the Baldivis Bulk Haulage Ford Falcon first at the end of the fifteen laps.
Hayden Norman bounced back to his best in the SSA Street Stock feature race after enduring a tough day’s racing against some very strong competition.
Collie’s Cody Avins was the man to challenge Norman for the majority of the fifteen lap main event before a mechanical failure saw his quest come to an agonising conclusion.
The two Holden Commodore’s of Evan Wakefield & Carl Pickersgill rounded out the podium in what was a crowd pleasing race.
The SSA Junior Sedans provided some fierce competition as Kalgoorlie’s Kayne Dellar & Zach Munro collecting the wins.
Round three of the 2021 season at the Allwest Plant Hire – Ellenbrook Speedway will be held on Sunday 4th July 2021 with SSA Production Sedans, SSA Street Stocks & SSA Junior Sedans all on the program.
