Thirty SSA Street Stocks are set to converge on the Nickol Bay Speedway located in Karratha Western Australia some sixteen hundred kilometres north east of Perth this weekend for the seventh running of the Brett Johnson Memorial.

Due to the current lockdown conditions in the south of the state, a reduced field made up of competitors primarily from the northern Speedway clubs will do battle for the significant prize pool on offer.

The Nickol Bay Speedway club created the Brett Johnson Memorial in 2014 in memory of a young gentlemen who had a tremendous impact on the local members after having a ride in a two seater Street Stock in 2013 through local organisation EPIC Karratha.

Former Victorian resident now based in Western Australia Lenny Bates along with Carnarvon’s Jace Kempton and Albany’s Paul Bowman loom as the drivers most likely to contend for victory along with Karratha local Matt Herbert who is the only former winner in the field.

Derby’s Jake Hoath has been in great form to start the 2021 season in the top end with Nickol Bay members Stevie O’Dowd, Steve Griffths, Jack McAuley and Clint Marks all searching for a podium result in the event.

Each competitor will contest four ten lap heat races across the two nights of competition before a twenty five lap main event.
