BLIGHT RULES THROWDOWN FOR 10K PAYDAY

Kye Blight led from start to finish in the forty lap SSA Production Sedan Timber Town Throwdown on the weekend, taking home a $10,000 payday at the Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway.

The lap chart may say Blight led from start to finish, but he had plenty of challengers throughout the entire 40-lap distance, defeating Clint Noakes and Drew Ogle.

Blight would start on the front row with younger brother Jake, but they were both quickly swarmed by Mitch Killeen and Noakes.

Killeen was the first major challenger to Blight as he moved into second place, with Clint Noakes and Jorj Park also getting by Jake Blight for the podium spots.

Jake Blight would be able to get back by Noakes until Brad Smith brought out the first caution on lap eight as he blew a right front tyre, and we saw the first ‘Choose Cone’ restart.

The restart would see the top three drivers all choose the inside row, benefiting Noakes, Ogle and Kyle Sayer, who were all running fourth through to sixth, to the outside top three rows.

Noakes would get a great start, keeping up with Blight and challenging for the lead, while Killeen would be demoted to third but still within reach of the lead duo.

This was until lap 12 when he had a right rear go down, ending his night early.

Jorj Park would now be the next challenger who would methodically find his way to the top three, as he and Ogle continued to swap positions with Sayer in tow until Park would slow and be out.

Ogle would hold onto the third spot with Sayer and Jake Blight now being joined by Josh Fraser, Aydan Trewern and Nuno Mendes.

The lead two continued to keep a comfortable margin until, with five to go, the final yellow would come out when Brody Day spun in turn four.

With only five laps left, the field would restart single file, Blight, who had been continuously pressured by Noakes, would be able to win and pocket himself $10,000.
