BIG SHOWS BEGIN!

Ellenbrook Speedway this weekend kick their season up a notch as they host the first of their blue-ribbon events, the annual Comex Civil Tom Green Memorial Junior Sedan Gold Cup.

Nearly forty SSA Junior Sedans have nominated across the New Star and Top Star categories for this Sunday’s show, and with some of the most prominent names in the division ready to complete, fans can expect plenty of wheel-to-wheel action.

Headlining the twenty-one car Top Stars field will be Jake Leaman, the defending champion from last year. The Current Australia #2, Leaman, who also won one of his State Titles at the venue previously, is keen to continue his strong history with the venue and coming in with a strong second place at the last show puts him in good stead.

Current WA Champion Oscar Amato was the one who put his name on the winners list at that last show, which was his first ever feature race win at the Ellenbrook venue. He fought hard for it though and after an epic battle will be hopeful of going back-to-back this weekend.

He will of course have some significant challenges from within the field, none more so than Australian Champion Harrison Beres who is keen to win his first Tom Green Memorial and good friend, Australia #3 Jesse Hamon (looking to emulate his father Mick’s efforts).

Also in the field are three of the last four winners of the New Star Tom Green Memorial, in Jamie Comley, Kaden Harrison and Baxter Trouchet, all keen to add their names to the Top Stars winners list.

In the New Stars a whole new podium is guaranteed with last year’s top four advancing to the Top Stars for this season’s version.

Jake Johnson comes into the show in top form, the last start winner at Ellenbrook and a strong performance at Narrogin last weekend, but can expect challenges from names like the fast-improving duo of Jake Huntjens and Ivy Bearsby.

Drivers will each contest three rounds of eight lap heats prior to the twenty-lap feature races.

Racing kicks off at 11am this Sunday afternoon.
