BIG DAY OUT AT ELLENBROOK!

It was a big day of Speedway Sedan racing on Sunday at Ellenbrook Speedway, with plenty of action across three classes.

The annual DTN 500 event attracted great fields: twenty-two SSA Street Stocks starting the day. Despite Ethan Cooper taking the initial lead in the fifteen lap final, Ben Norman was able to race his way to the front on lap three in a new (to him) car and race away with the win. Cooper was passed by Ash Con-Goo on lap seven for second, and this would remain the order to the finish.

Twenty-three SSA Production Sedans would start the day, but attrition throughout the racing saw just eleven cars finish the main event. Murray Iwanow took the lead as the feature went green, leading ahead of Matt Noakes and Ryan Mitchell, but Noakes would retire infield with mechanical woes and Mitchell would collect the front straight wall, seeing both out of the event.

Iwanow continued to lead, with Nuno Mendes (in a borrowed car and starting from the rear all day) raced into second, while Dylan Parkes momentarily moved into third before he too succumbed to issues.

Mendes got by Iwanow for the lead on lap nine, while Brad Mitchell moved into the final podium position on lap eleven, and from here the order would remain unchanged, Mendes successful over Iwanow and Mitchell.

Seventeen New Star Junior Sedans would front for action, with Blake Noakes rising to the challenge when it counted, taking the win from Braxton Bussenschutt and Ella Fulcher, while in the Top Stars final it was Jamie Comley taking out a thriller from Jake Huntjens and Mason Whitehead.

The next event at Ellenbrook will be on Sunday the 14th of June.
