Albanys Ron Belfield has today turned back the clock at Ellenbrook Speedway as he raced his way to a dominant win in the twenty lap feature to claim the annual Production Sedan Classic event.

The former National and State Production Sedan champion showed vintage form throughout the day as he claimed a win and a second from three heats to start the final from position three, behind the front row of brothers Rick and Rod Musarra.

Rod Musarra got the initial lead as the race went green, followed by Belfield who then quickly ducked under him to grab the lead in turn two and lead the opening lap from Rod and Rick.

As the field completed the second lap a number of cars came together, resulting in Coby Stevens and Jeff Kendall both being spat out of the field, Kendall able to rejoin but Stevens forced to retire with a damaged front end.

Belfield led the field away with Musarra and Musarra chasing hard while behind them was a battle waging between Kyle Sayer, Jamie Oldfield and State Production Sedan Champion Barry Rose.

Oldfield moved past Sayer on lap six to grab fourth then pushed his Falcon to the outside as he looked for a way past third placed Rick Musarra while behind them Rose shook off the advances of WA#3 Wayne Leviston then passed Sayer for fifth.

All of a sudden there was a three car battle for third between Rick Musarra, Oldfield and Rose, with Rose ducking under Oldfield for fourth on lap twelve while ahead Belfield and Rick Musarra pulled clear of the remainder of the field.

Rose and Oldfield continued to battle for fourth right on Rick Musarras tail, Oldfield going outside of Rose to retake fourth in an intense battle that saw third through to fifteenth all in an incredibly close line, each person going high and low as they searched to advance.

Rose grabbed fourth once again with four to go, but Oldfield was having none of it, moving around the outside of both Rose and Musarra to grab third place.

Lapped traffic then began to play its part, Rose going high as he got baulked slightly and dropping back to sixth as Kane McDiarmid and Wayne Leviston found their way through in the final laps.

Up front though it was Belfield who drove his Torana to perfection, streaking away in the distance to claim the win while former multiple time winner of the Classic race Rod Musarra was forced to settle for second.

Jamie Oldfield would break through for third while Rick Musarra and Kane McDiarmid rounded out the top five.

Courtesy of todays feature results Barry Rose has done enough to claim yet another Speedway Sedan Digest Four Crown Series, defeating Kane McDiarmid by nineteen points while Ron Belfield, who only competed in two of the four rounds but podiumed in both, did enough to leap into third place overall.

The next show at Ellenbrook Speedway will be the annual Brian Rose Memorial for Street Stocks in September.
