Corey Bauld has defeated a huge field of SSA Street Stocks to become the Tasmanian State Title champion for the second time in his racing career last night at the Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway located just outside Launceston.
Although Bauld crossed the line first it was defending champion Steven Harvey who put on an unbelieveable display over the course of the evening going from the B Main all the way to finish second at the end of the thirty lap main event.
After winning his first qualifying heat Harvey suffered heavy damage to the front end of his Holden Commodore in his second outing forcing the defending champion to come through the B Main.
Over Forty Cars contested this season’s Tasmanian State Title for SSA Street Stocks with twelve qualifying heats, two B Mains & thirty lap finale keeping the great crowd on hand entertained throughout the night.
Five Time Champion Troy Russell’s charge for a sixth title came to an disappointing end on the infield after a collision with then leaders Trent Austen & Matt Hammond putting an end to his race.
Bauld crossed the line just 0.389 of a second ahead of Steven Harvey who had the crowd on their feet cheering home the defending champion with Mitch Allison recording his first podium result in the Tasmanian State Title in third.
Street Stocks are back in action on the Apple Isle next Saturday Night at the Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway in Latrobe.
