West Australian Modified Sedan Champion, Branden Fraser has continued his winning form, claiming his third major feature race in a row at Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway for Round 4 of the Civil Hirings WA Modified Sedan Series.
With WA1 on his door and a new paint scheme, Branden Fraser started the night in the best possible way, winning heat one from Coby Stevens and Rick Musarra. Home town hero Paul Stevens would then win the second heat of the night from Albanys Calon Ball and Bunburys Adam Houston.
Luke Fraser would add his name to the heat winners list, claiming heat three, while Rick Musarra would become the fourth different heat race winner, winning heat four.
Geraldton youngster Ashley Baker would show how even the field really was, winning the fifth heat from Calon Ball and Jayke Malcolm. Paul Stevens would be the only driver to score two heat wins, defeating Anthony King and Rick Musarra in the final heat of the night.
On a freshly prepared race track, the Southern Stump and Mulching Services Shootout provided some great action as always, as drivers battled for position for the twenty lap final. Allan Mortimer continued his strong form by making the SSMS Shootout, though couldnt hold back Branden Fraser.
Fraser would then defeat Coby Stevens and Ashley Baker, though couldnt get the upper hand of Rick Musarra. Musarra would face Paul Stevens in the final instalment of the shootout, though it was the local lad Paul Stevens who would cross the line first to start from pole position in the final.
With Paul Stevens and Rick Musarra on the front row, the twenty lap final got underway and it was Musarra who moved straight into the race lead while Calon Ball looked to make some early positions further back in the field.
Sam McAuley, Jarrod Rick and Adam Houston would have a great battle for the minor positions, racing in close proximity for a number of laps, as Calon Ball again looked to progress through the field.
With the entire field locked together, Branden Fraser was the first to try the higher line as he drove past Paul Stevens and eventually Rick Musarra to take the lead of the race. From this point it would be a battle for the podium as Fraser drove away from the rest of the field, leaving a seven car fight for second position.
With the laps winding down, Paul Stevens made a move on the outside of Rick Musarra, which would then see sister Coby dive to the inside to take away third place. It was anyones guess as to who would finish on the podium, but eventually it would be Rick Musarra and Coby Stevens who would fill the podium, with Branden Fraser again proving far too strong to take the victory.
Paul Stevens would finish fourth ahead of Calon Ball, Ashley Baker, Allan Mortimer, Jayke Malcolm, Adam Houston and Sam McAuley. Carnarvon duo Glenn Harper and Jarrod Rick would unfortunately finish the event on the infield with mechanical dramas on board their Ford Falcons.
