Last night, Collie Speedway would conduct their traditional final countdown meeting to close out their season.
In the SSA Street Stocks, racing the Street Stock Classic, it was local driver Cody Avins who led every one of the forty circulations to claim victory, though he was pushed all the way by Moora’s Gavin Minty, who made several attempts at a pass. Third across the line would be Damon Thomson.
The Bill Sibbald King of the Road for SSA Production Sedans was a thriller, but it was former WA Champion Drew Ogle who held strong, defeating Mitchell Killeen and Nuno Mendes in the run to the line, the latter duo fighting in close quarters for the whole race.
The SSA Junior Sedans would also be part of the program, with Tia Amato making the most of an ailing Jake Leaman in the dying stages to steal the feature win on the last corner and become the Princess of the Road. Leaman held on for second while Xavier Crowe was third. In the New Stars, Millie Fairbrass put in a great performance to grab the feature win from Koru McBrydie and Jasmine Green.
This would bring the 2024/25 season to a close for Collie Speedway, and with the SSA Street Stock WA Title going to the venue next season, 2025/26 is sure to be as big as the last one!
