Atkins Wins North South Shootout!
Bouncing back from a recent rollover, Brock Atkins this weekend claimed the 50-lap North-South Shootout at Heartland Raceway Moama, in the process locking away second in the NSSS.
With a win in one of the preliminary night features (Lucas Roberts claiming the other), Atkins had enough points to start the final from position three, with Roberts and Steve Latham sharing the front row.
Roberts would grab the lead quickly with Atkins following him through into second, and it didn’t take long for Atkins to sneak on by.
From here Atkins would race away with the win, Roberts holding on for second while Latham maintained the final spot on the podium.
Interestingly, this is now two years in a row the car has won the North South 50, with American Jesse Sobbing driving it to victory last year.
The bulk of the Super Sedans will now head up the coast for this weekend’s GP53 at Toowoomba.
