ATKINS WINS GP53
The GP53 for SSA Super Sedans last night attracted a stellar field of cars to the Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway, but in the end it was Todd Atkins who dominated, racing from position ten on the feature grid to take the win.
Atkins was strong all night, winning a heat and then going on to win the shootout, which saw him inverted to start from position ten in the main event.
Queensland’s Michael Hally would grab the lead in the 53 lap main event initially, but it wasn’t long before Aussie Champion Joel Berkley arrived on the scene and took over the point.
Mat Pascoe was right there with Berkley, until Atkins raced his way into second by lap ten.
The top three raced in close quarters for a number of laps, Atkins in particular would hound Berkley before getting through on the twenty eighth circulation.
From here Atkins raced off into the distance, going on to win by over four seconds from Berkley while Mat Pascoe was another four seconds back in third.
