The 2026 SSA Super Sedan Victorian Title is set to roar to life this Saturday night, February 28th, at Avalon Raceway, with a stellar field of thirty drivers locked in to contest one of the state’s most prestigious crowns.
Avalon Raceway, aptly known as “The Place for Pace”, will provide the perfect backdrop as a mix of former champions, seasoned campaigners and rising stars battle for Victorian honours in what shapes as a fiercely competitive showdown.
Headlining the nominations is freshly minted SSA Super Sedan National Champion Joel Berkley, who will be keen to add the Victorian Title to his growing list of achievements.
The Nicola name will be strongly represented, with Mick Nicola (V1), Peter Nicola (V2) and veteran Mick Nicola Snr (V3) all set to take their place in the field, bringing a wealth of experience and Victorian Super Sedan pedigree. Mick Nicola Jnr is the three-time and defending champion, Peter has claimed the title on three occasions, and Mick Nicola Snr also has two victories to his name, meaning all three are more than capable of securing the coveted V1 once again.
As if that wasn’t enough, former Victorian Champions Jamie Collins, Callum Harper and Dave Gartner return to the fray, while five-time title winner Lucas Roberts is also in the field and chasing yet another Victorian crown.
Australia #2 Brad Pascoe and Australia #3 Zac Brims add further star power to the line-up and will be determined to go even better after strong recent performances.
Interstate interest adds further intrigue, with Paul Blenkiron representing South Australia, Queenslanders Trent Wilson (another former National Champion) and Sam Hughes, Tasmanians David Nichols and Brad McMaster, and Western Australia’s Keith Higgs among those making the journey. With drivers from across the country in attendance and all States represented, the Victorian contingent will have to be at their very best to defend home turf.
With thirty cars in attendance, the heat races will be crucial in setting up the feature field, where track position and smart racecraft around the fast Avalon circuit will prove vital. The wide racing surface traditionally lends itself to multiple racing lines, ensuring fans can expect high-speed, side-by-side action throughout the night.
Victorian Title events always carry an added edge, and with such an evenly matched field assembled, predicting a winner is near impossible. What is certain, however, is that by the end of the night one driver will etch their name into the history books and proudly carry the Victorian #1 for the next twelve months.
