The Speedway Sedans Australia, Mental Racewear, National Street Stock Title at the Timmis Speedway, Mildura, is just seven days away, with more than 130 drivers set to do battle in the second largest National Title in Australian Speedway history.
One driver who is no stranger to National Titles is Ricky Throckmorton, from Colac in Victoria, who has been competing for ten years in the category and will be competing in his eighth successive title, which has seen him go to every State and Territory in the process.
The forty two year old will drive his VE Holden Commodore in the Title, and despite not doing much racing this season, he has been competitive when he has.
I have raced at Mildura many times and really enjoy the track and generally go ok there, Throckmorton said.
I love the mateship that Street Stock brings, as they are all a good bunch of guys and girls, he added.
Throckmorton is most comfortable going in the traditional direction, but will deal with whatever direction he is dealt. I am really looking forward to the atmosphere that an Aussie title brings, he said.
Throckmorton is hopeful of making the A Main, and has gone for three of the fancied runners to take out the title, Anthony Beare, Jamie Oldfield and Rhys Heinrich.
Ricky Throckmorton would love to thank the following Sponsors:
I am really looking forward to this years title, as Mildura puts on a really good show and the track will provide great racing.
