Jamie Oldfield proved too good on Saturday night at the Quit Collie Speedway, winning the Street Stock Feature race in a small, yet qualify field.
Cody Avins would win a thrilling opening heat, defeating Ethan Genev and Paul Briggs, before Oldfield showed his dominance winning the second and third qualifying heats. Genev who finished second in heat two, would not be seen again after suffering mechanical issues on the final lap, while former State Champion, Wayne Thomson, also did not re-appear after the second heat.
Oldfield opened a handy lead in the main event, and seemingly had the race in his keeping, but when Carl Pickersgill spun in turn one, a restart would be ordered. This would be the only opportunity for Luke Fraser, who was running second in the event to challenge for the lead. Fraser levelled up with Oldfield exiting turn two and momentarily it looked like a thrilling finish would be instore, but Oldfield then drove away from the field to record a good win.
Paul Briggs, who had won the previous Feature events at the Collie venue would retire with mechanical woes as well, leaving Luke Fraser to finish a comfortable second ahead of Cody Avins and Damon Thomson.
