 :: PRESS RELEASE ::
:: Round Nine Super Sedan Results - Night One

Saturday, 6 February 2010
Jason Crowe - SSA Media

Round Nine of the Super Sedan Summer Series started at the Perth Motorplex last night, with one heat race and a twenty lap Feature race, at the West Australian venue.

Marc Giancola won the opening event convincingly, after a mid race crash involving Jim Holland and Peter Lyall. Both cars suffered extensive damage. Frank Does was also very lucky, spinning in the middle of the big field which all missed the former State Champion. Behind Giancola, Gary Higgs and Kodee Brown filled the minor placings, while Jamie Oldfield, driving the Bert Vosbergen Pantera would finish fourth.

The second heat race was cancelled due to time constraints, with the Feature race extended to twenty laps, with the first fifteen of those laps going without a stoppage. Dustin Higgs and Kemble Aylett would give a classic display, with Higgs using the low line, with Aylett mid track, for almost the entire time. Further back in the pack Marc Giancola and Frank Does made great progress through the big field, before Murray Iwanow's car expired with five laps to go.

Higgs and Ayletts' large lead was then diminished giving Giancola and Does, along with Kodee Brown a chance at victory. All tried to pass Higgs in the concluding stages, as the race looked set with a thrilling finish, but Dustin Higgs held sway downing a gallant Aylett, who is finding good form, with Giancola, Does, Brown, Jason Oldfield and Jamie Oldfield not far behind.

For Dustin Higgs, it was great reward for effort, after missing the opening heat. Engine dramas of recent weeks, which have plagued the team, saw Higgs arrive late at the Motorplex venue, only allowing him time to compete in the Feature event.

Two heats and another twenty lap Feature race are scheduled for tonight.
